Amazon S3 links plugin, which is just released in the Moodle plugins database, allows you to link files from Amazon S3 cloud storage service instead of copying them into your Moodle course which is provided by default in Moodle core.
Moodle is having a repository in core named ‘Amazon S3‘ which allows you to add files from your Amazon storage by copying them into your Moodle course but using this new plugin, you can directly provide a link to the file without copying it into Moodle.
All the requests are authenticated through the Access key, Secret Key and Bucket name, so it works for private files also and only logged in users can access linked files. The course-level repositories will only be accessible by users enrolled in the course.
You can download the Amazon S3 links repository plugin from the Moodle plugins database here. The plugin is available for Moodle 2.7 onwards and is developed by Albert Gasset from CV&A Consulting, the Moodle Partner from Spain.
What are the other ways by which you are using the files from Amazon S3 repository in your Moodle course? Do let us know in the comments below.

Can I use the S3 Bucket as the location for storage of moddledata?
I believe so, in fact that’s the standard practice among Certified Moodle Partners.
