Thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation, the ATEP (Advanced Technology & Education Park), satellite campus of the California Community Colleges System, South Orange County Community College District, has provided all of us with a quality walk-through around Moodle.
For those already familiar with Moodle, it is an decent refresher. For those showing the ins and outs of Moodle to others, ATEP has made the course available on the official Moodle OER (Open Educational Resources) repository at moodle.net. This means the course is Open-licensed, and anyone can download it for free and add it to their own Moodle site offerings.
This comprehensive course features 4 Pages, 4 Lessons, 11 Books and 4 Quizzes on all things Moodle, such as:
- Getting Around
- Course Roles
- Display Control
- Profiles
- Activities
- Groups
- Gradebook
- Reports
- Communication
“Using Moodle” is not the only NSF-funded course that ATEP offers to take or download. On their Moodle site, there are 2 courses on Biotechnology, 2 on Information and Communication Technology, and 2 on Materials and Manufacturing Technology.
Hofstra University, in New York, has implemented at least some of ATEP’s Moodle courses into their programs, and currently administers the Moodle site.
The “Using Moodle” and the other courses are available for free self-paced enrollment at atep.techlit.org.
The “Using Moodle” course is available for download at hub.moodle.org.
