A new Moodle plugin released this week helps you to create dynamic menu user profile fields whose values are retrieved from the Moodle database. The plugin “Dropdown dynamic menu” is mainly intended for Moodle administrators and developers who are well versed with Moodle DB and SQL.
The plugin developed by Antonello Moro can be used to create dynamic profile fields based on the values saved in the database. The new user profile fields can be displayed on the user profile page and the signup page as well.
You can download the Dropdown Dynamic Menu plugin from the Moodle plugins database here and it is available for Moodle 2.9 & 3.0 versions. You need to install the plugin in Your_Moodle_Site\user\profile\field directory.
To create a new dynamic profile field, visit Site Administration > User > Accounts > User Profile Fields and Select the Dropdown Dynamic Menu and follow the instructions mentioned here.
I have tested the plugin on my development server and it is working fine but as of now I was not able to think any use case for this plugin. Will update this post once got some idea.
If you are able to think of any use case for this plugin, then please share with us in the comments below.
