If you had ever thought to extract the stats the user devices like the Browser, Mobile, Desktop, Operating System in Moodle through some analytics software’s then you might be knowing the pain of generating reports out of them.
Mark Heumueller created a report plugin named “Device Analytics” for Moodle which allows you to capture all these stats very easily in the admin dashboard including the stats about the Operating system, Display Size, Window Size and Input Type etc.
Features:
- a quick overview of the users used devices
- graphical and tabular dashboard
Installation:
The plugin is a report type plugin type so it has to be installed in your-moodle-site/report/deviceanalytics directory followed by completing the installation process through the Notifications page. Read the Plugin installation guide for complete steps about installing a new plugin in Moodle.
Intended Usage:
The plugin is meant for administrators use only and in getting the analytics based on the devices used.
Documentation:
There is no documentation available for the plugin apart from the Readme file included in the package file.
Does it serves its purpose:
Yes, the plugin displays the stats based on the usage by device and is helpful in collecting other user stats also.
Download:
You can download the Device Analytics plugin from the Moodle plugins database through this link.
Moodle Versions supported:
As of now, the plugin support only Moodle 2.8 & 2.9 versions.
Rating:
As a site administrator the Plugin seems to do the job very reasonably and providing the intended analytics. So, I am happy to rate the plugin with 4.5 stars out of 5. An additional documentation page would have lead it to 5 out of 5 stars.
If you were also looking for the device analytics for your Moodle users then you can use this plugin and say thanks for developing this beautiful plugin to the plugin maintainer Mark Heumueller here.
