The Continued Education Division (DEC for its Spanish acronym) of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) disseminates successful, innovative programs with high technology content to achieve effectiveness. Likewise, DEC’s duty is to disseminate continued education programs in places where the UNAM has its different campuses. (Canada, United States, Europe, China and Latin America).

Considering that the UNAM offers the largest continued education program portfolio in Mexico, there comes a challenge to generate efficient programs that meet the educational needs of individuals; at present, innovating programs are sought, which must set the grounds of the current situation of the country, and which intend to generate learning experiences that may be extrapolated to the day-to-day life.

Among the most interesting initiatives developed by DEC is the creation of MOOCs; these are thematically created with the support of a group of individuals specialized on specific topics, i.e. personal finance, administration, etc.  Furthermore, they have a full technology deployment in terms of infrastructure, platform and contents, always bearing in mind the highest quality of the material used to teach at the MOOCs.  In fact, one of the MOOCs created on personal finance was taught in the 5 continents, and was adopted by more than 30,000 students.

There is no doubt that the UNAM, while being one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America with slightly more than 300,000 students in the different education modalities, must remain current and at the forefront in terms of technology developments for the teaching and learning processes offered in current global world.
